As is traditional at the SIMS Annual Conference, which took place in June at Alton Towers, Phil Neal (Managing Director of Capita SIMS) took to the stage to review the previous year – and give some insight into the company targets and highlights in the forthcoming year. This, I was able to follow-up with Phil later – as he kindly agreed to speak to me further to elaborate on some of the ideas for the future; and his own personal highlights and opinions on the sector and Education. That article will follow soon – but for now, on with an overview of what has happened and the road ahead…
Quite a delayed post here, following up on a very enlightening presentation from Rachael Marshman (@ RachMarshman – https://twitter.com/RachMarshman) – new Product Manager for Assessment. Some of you may remember Rachael from her Local Authority days.
I have been following the Teacher App (just one part of the whole SIMS App) development programme since June 2013 – as this is, in my opinion, a game changer. The aim of the first stage in the project is quite simple really, as put by Duncan Hield, Product Manager.
Agora, launched a little over a year ago, is the Capita SIMS online payment solution for Schools – enabling parents to pay for school meals, trips, activities, uniforms and more. SIMS Agora allows Schools to provide a safe and secure method to make payments in a convenient way – always having access to what they have paid for whenever and wherever they like.
What really sets Agora apart from other the rest of the SIMS ecosystem is that it is the first “as a service” solution from Capita. There is no “product” in the traditional sense to buy – no “disks”, no installation or consultancy charges and no pesky system requirements.#
